I’m geezer enough to remember the first Xbox Magazine throwing shade at PS2 for having DVDs playable with a controller instead of requiring the remote. Those days were full of console exclusives so that you bought one if you needed X title in your life and the other for Y series. Publishers have been blurring those lines more and more with fewer must-have titles, but I’m excited again for the first time in many years.
Or maybe I’m just a fanboy. Continue reading
After another grueling week putting in hours at the business factory, you’ve made it home again. What better way to relax than to sink back into the times when you had no responsibilities and games existed in glorious 16-bit graphics? Continue reading
While the rest of the world starts their hunt in Monster Hunter: World today and I try my best to find a secondhand PS4, I can at least find solace in the fact that Vermintide 2 is right around the corner. Sigmar bless me.
If you’ve got a PS4 then you also have my envy. Monster Hunter: World is having a brief open beta this weekend one month prior to its January launch. Haven’t looked into the series yet? With this iteration hitting consoles AND PC, now’s a good time to start. Continue reading
A bold new era is upon us: where games can both come with a shelf price AND have almost required in-game purchases. Eh… what can you do?
If you’ve been in the PC gaming world in the last 10 or 15 years, you’ve heard of MOBAs — multiplayer online battle arenas. You’ve probably also thought once or twice, “Hey, these aren’t arenas. These are lanes.” And you probably sucked it up and waltzed down that lane to that tower anyway, not knowing that there was something better you could be doing.
Well, those days are behind you. Now, it’s a real arena, and it’s just you versus them…
It’s 8:00 on a Thursday night, and the latest free content pack from Team Cherry just dropped earlier today, their Grimm Troupe DLC. I want to be playing that, but I’m not yet because I had to tell you guys about this game first. Because one of the only things that comes close to my love for Hollow Knight is telling other people how great Hollow Knight truly is.
Hello to all you out there in the Nerdiverse! I’m Chris, your resident gamer extraordinaire. We haven’t been properly introduced (unless you’ve heard my appearance on The Amazing Nerdiverse podcast – Pt. 1 here and Pt. 2 here), but if you’re going to care about anything I have to say about games, you’re going to need to know a little bit about me first. What better way to do that than to peruse my gallery of favorites.
This is mostly a personal favorite Top 10, not necessarily what I think are the best games out there. I don’t have Ocarina of Time on the list, but I recognize how groundbreaking and trendsetting it was, and how well it stands even to this day. This list is also not laid out in any particular ranked order — except for number one (by far my favorite gaming experience, and if there’s any justice in the world, it will be hailed as an all time great as time goes on).
